So, welcome to our blog for Holly and my trip to Austin, Texas the end of August. We have promised to keep it clean.

The mother's view of the upcoming trip: looking forward to seeing other parts of the US not seen before, looking forward to spending time with Holly, not so sure about the temperature in Texas end of August and the worry of weather related events that might occur. However looking on the bright side; Thelma and Louise look out!

We have mapped out the route, I have the "Trip-Tik", we have a million maps, travel books and are contacting people we plan to see along the way. I have started the "Mom" box O stuff, (bandaids, TUMS, etc), and have begun purchasing a few things food wise to have with us. The car is going in the shop to make it road travel ready and Steve will be reviewing the plan. So of course things are approaching readiness.

There will be corny pictures so keep posted- I have to find an old one to add for starters and become more comfortable with adding my two cents. So the countdown is on and we plan to have fun!!  Or at least many stories to share!

Every Sunday morning I check the Post Secret Blog for Sunday secrets. Appropriately this was from this morning's batch of new secrets.... Proof Positive that I am not the only one who feels this way.

Found this gem of Mom, me and Katie when we went to Disney World as kids... clearly I loved the Dumbo ride :)

When I tell people about my end of the summer road trip that I have planned with my mom that will put us together in the car for a straight 11 days, many mouths drop open and respond with "So I guess you and your mom get along?".... really? Do that many people (females mind you) not get along with their mothers? I guess for me I know so many people who don't (or can't) take the time to get to know their mothers as adults, as women, as people that I think it's just a shame. Anyway end of rant...

So my mom and I will be heading out of Syracuse in a short 5 weeks to drive from upstate NY to Nashville, Texarkana, AUSTIN!!!!, then back through Tennessee, to Asheville, and back to Syracuse again...Whew

Mom and I will both be blogging about the trip so I hope you all will check back in and follow our journey!
